MAKHMUR
What is Hope Made Of?
Eyshe and her husband Kendal have lived with their extended family for 30 years in the Kurdish refugee camp of Makhmur, in the stony desert of northern Iraq. Amid war and constant threat, the self-governed camp of 20,000 residents strives for a life of autonomy—creating a community founded on emancipation and equality. Now, the camp once again faces severe military and political danger, and the peace initiative that had begun hangs in the balance. Where do we find hope in times of apparent hopelessness? MAKHMUR – a film about the possibilities of what it means to be human.
